Religion in the People’s Republic of China today
We see churches, temples and mosques everywhere in China.
What role does religion play for individuals and society today?
Which are the officially recognized religions, and under which conditions do they exist and function?
Lennart Hamark (M.Th.) has studied the religions in the People’s Republic of China and the development of the official religious policy since the mid-1980’s. With the help of some colourful and unique video-clips and photos from his many study tours to different provinces during the past 25 years, Lennart will give a brief historic background (19th-20th centuries) to religions in China, and will focus on the development of religious life in this country during the recent three decades and up to our time.
