On may 17th, our CEO Ms. Louise Byström was awarded the Medal of Economic Contribution by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, R.O.C., in recognition of her achievements in promoting closer economic, trade, industrial and investment ties between Taiwan and Sweden. We are proud to say the least, and look forward to working towards an ever closer Taiwan-Sweden relationship.
The Bureau of Foreign Trade writes as follows:
“On May 17, 2019, Economic Minister Mr. Jong-Chin Shen presented Ms. Louise Byström with the Medal of Economic Contribution in recognition of her achievements in promoting closer economic, trade, industrial and investment ties between Taiwan and Sweden.
Ms. Byström founded the Swedish Chamber of Commerce Taipei (SCCT) in 2010, and has since facilitated exchanges between Taiwanese and Swedish companies. She has offered valuable suggestions to our government concerning bilateral investment and trade relations during her term as Chief Executive Officer of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce Taipei over the past nine years.
Furthermore, the SCCT has cooperated with the Swedish Trade and Invest Council to hold the annual Sweden Day in Taiwan since 2014, which has helped Taiwanese people get to know Sweden better through learning its economy, culture, lifestyle and tourism.
At the ceremony, Minister Shen expressed his gratitude to Ms. Byström for her efforts organizing the Taiwan-Sweden Joint Business Council meetings, and for showing her support to connect relevant Swedish industries to Taiwan’s 5+2 industrial and innovative policy. Additionally, Ms. Byström facilitated better two-way understanding between the businesses of Sweden and Taiwan on the respective industrial developments and business opportunities.
Government officials, representatives from IKEA, SKF, Atlas Copco, Acer and Chunghwa Telecom, as well as foreign representatives in Taiwan were present at the grand and special ceremony.”
